Calls for Submissions

CARINA PRESS – The Dirty Bits from Carina Press are “micro-romances,” designed to be read in an hour or two. Quick and dirty, just the way we like it. These sex-filled stories are guaranteed to pack a punch and deliver a happily ever.

We’re looking for two specific things for The Dirty Bits in the second half of 2018: LGBTQ inclusivity and tropes galore. And yes, the two can overlap!

Call #1: We’d like to see superhot erotic shorts (10,000-25,000 words) featuring gay, lesbian, non-binary, bisexual, and transgender heroes and heroines. Ménage and polyamorous romances are welcome, as are orgy scenarios, but there must be an HEA or HFN for the main characters. Remember, while these are meant to be hot, hot, hot, they’re also meant to be romances, so don’t leave out the romantic arc!

Call #2: Our editors are seeking erotic content, in both LGBTQ and heterosexual romance, that centers specifically around one of the tropes below:

• Forced Proximity
• Mature main characters
• Virgin main characters
• Voyeurism
• Sex with a stranger
• Best friend’s younger sibling
• Fated mates (bring on the paranormal sexy times!)
• May/December romance
• Holidays (think sweet and cute, perhaps with a lot of baking…but also very dirty)
• Boss/employee
• Mistaken identity
• Forced seduction
• Exotic locations (the more luxurious, the better!)
• Suspense/ hero(es) or heroine(s) in peril
• Friends to lovers
• Enemies to lovers
• Betting or gambling; a wager between love interests
• Alaska-set
• Rags to riches
• Love interests from different sides of the tracks
• Single dad (DILF)
• Small town

The details:

This is an open-ended call, meaning we are interested in seeing submissions in these two areas on an ongoing basis, so there’s no end date/closing date.

The Dirty Bits from Carina Press can be contemporary, paranormal, romantic suspense, historical, science fiction or fantasy romances. They should deliver a fast story—one that transports readers from the stresses of everyday life, work and politics for an hour or two.

We’d like to emphasize that we have two main requirements for the story content of these micro-romances: they need to contain a romance, with a HEA or HFN, and as they are intended to be erotic romances: the sex and sexual tension should be woven into the romance and a key focus of the stories. The pacing must be tight from page one. Stories with minimal sexual tension, minimal on-page sex, long periods of narrative setup, infodumps, and extraneous character interaction are not the right fit for this particular line.
