Position: Reporter (Writer & Photographer)

The Maple Creek News-Times is looking for an energetic, community-minded reporter with leadership qualities, and a passion for writing accurate and engaging stories to join our news team. Potential opportunity for the position to evolve into an editor position.
The reporter will cover a wide range of stories, from municipal politics to sports stories, agriculture-related stories and features, as well as take accompanying photographs. Producing multiple newspapers per week means our newsroom is busy and attending events outside of regular office hours is often required. The reporter will produce about 10-15 stories per week, as well as a bi-monthly opinion column. The Maple Creek News-Times has won multiple provincial awards for excellence in reporting and photography.
Qualifications
The successful applicant will have a journalism diploma or equivalent experience in writing and community reporting. Must have excellent interviewing, writing, photography and time-management skills.
