There are lots of great work-from-home writing jobs, a few full-time writing jobs with a couple of Canadian media giants, and two calls for submissions for children and YA writers.

Remote Writing Jobs (Work from Anywhere Writing Jobs)

FREELANCE JOURNALIST – Sliced by FED is looking for an experienced freelance writer to research and write on health and food security. You should have a minimum of 5 years of editorial experience and knowledge of sports and strong understanding of social media platforms and digital trends. RESEARCH WRITER – Bruyère Research Institute in Ottawa is looking for a full-time experienced research writer to work with the researcher and her team to wrote and submit approximately 20 publications in a year. You must have a master’s degree and 3-5 years of experience as a writer. Experience in primary healthcare is preferred. Bilingual in French and English is an asset. Calls for Submissions

Fun for Kidz – This children’s magazine is for boys and girls from 6 to 13 with a target age around 10. They publish 6 issues a year and each is based on a theme. This year’s include Families, Bugs, Water, Other Cultures, and Night Creatures. Ideal length is 300-325 words for nonfiction and 600-650 words for fiction.

Cicada Magazine – Cicada is a literary magazine for ages 14 and up. They are accepting fiction (SF/fantasy, realism, historical fiction), from flash fiction to novellas up to 9,000 words, and nonfiction (narrative and essays), up to 5,000 words. They are also looking for poetry of any length and comics. Pay for stories and articles is up to 25¢ per word, and poems up to $3.00 per line with a $25 minimum.
