Today’s list of writing jobs includes online writing jobs open to writers anywhere and a few great on-site writing opportunities in Canada for my fellow Canadian writers. I’ve also included a couple of calls for submissions so there’s a little something for everyone.

Remote Writing Jobs (Work-from-Home / Online Writing Jobs)

CONTENT / BLOG WRITER – Going Merry, a scholarship website for students, is looking for a writer to create content and blog posts on financial aid and education. This is a remote writing job. It pays $15 USD per hour. Read more/apply

CRYPTOCURRENCY JOURNALIST – Investing.com is looking for an experienced writer with a solid understanding of cryptocurrency to fill a work from home writing job. This is a full-time writing job from home from Monday to Friday. Read more/apply

ARTICLE ABSTRACT WRITER – A company is looking for writers to write abstract summaries of existing content on a variety of instructional topics. Each project should take 8 to 12 hours per week. This is a remote writing job. They are especially interested in writers with a Master’s Degree in English, Creative Writing, or other writing-intensive field. Read more/apply

ACADEMIC FREELANCE WRITER – SimpleTense Education is looking for experienced writers to work from home. You should have a Bachelor’s degree and a 3.3 GPA or better. You must be able to apply MLA, APA, and CMS formatting, and understand how to conduct online research. This remote writing job pays $15 to $25 per hour. Read more/apply

FREELANCE WRITER – 24HourAnswers.com is looking for freelance writers to create homepage content that caters to university and college students. This online writing job pays $15 per page. You would be writing course overviews; one to two pages per topic. You must have 5 years of experience and a Master’s degree. Read more/apply

PROFESSONAL WRITERS & ACADEMICS – The Write Direction is looking for freelance writers to work with a partnering company. You must have a minimum of 2 years of experience as a freelance content writer and excellent writing, speaking, and communication skills. A Masters or PhD is preferred. Read more/apply

FREELANCE BUSINESS/STATISTICAL WRITER – The Barrie & District Association of Realtors is looking for a freelance writer for monthly writing assignments. You must have experience in business writing and the ability to communicate statistical information to a wide audience. Ability to take on assignments on short notice and meet tight timelines, and an interest in real estate are also required for this Canadian freelance writing job. Read more/apply

Canadian Writing Jobs (On-Site Writing Jobs in Canada)

FULL-TIME WRITER – The Idea factory in St. John’s, Newfoundland is looking for a talented writer with at least 2 years of experience in an agency setting and a killer online portfolio. A diploma in copywriter would be an asset, but it’s not a deal breaker. You must have a post-secondary education in marketing or communications to be considered for this full-time Canadian writing job. Read more/apply

EDITORIAL ASSISTANT – Rubicon Publishing in Oakville, Ontario is looking for an Editorial Assistant to work on digital resources intended for kindergarten to grade 8. You must have recent experience using Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite, along with an understanding of HTML, CSS, and UX design principles. CONTENT WRITER – Hong marketing in Markham, Ontario is hiring a full-time content writer to write blog posts and marketing copy. You must have proven experience as a content creator or copywriter and a portfolio of published work. Hands on experience with content management systems, understanding of SEO, and a BSc in Marketing, Journalism, or a relevant field are also required for this full-time Canadian writing job. AGRICULTURAL TECHNNICAL WRITER – Kenna, a marketing agency located in Mississauga, Ontario, is hiring an experienced writer with an extensive background in agriculture and at least 2 years of experience as a technical writer. A Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, science, economics or business marketing is also required. Read more/apply

Calls for Submissions

FLAPPERHOUSE – FLAPPERHOUSE is looking for lit that is sensual, shadowy, surreal, and/or satirical. They are open to flash fiction and short fiction up to 5,000 words, poetry up to 1,000 words, and nonfiction and essays up to 2,500 words. They pay one US cent per word for prose, or 2.5 US cents per word of poetry.

PRICK OF THE SPINDLE – This literary journal is open to traditional and experimental modes. They publish fiction and nonfiction varying in length from flash to novelettes and are always looking for reviews of academic literature, fiction, and poetry, and works of literary criticism and essays.
