It’s short but sweet with work-from-home / online writing jobs open to writers anywhere and calls for submissions for mystery writers. Of course, there are also some on-site writing jobs for my fellow Canadian writers.

Remote Writing Jobs (Work from Home / Online Writing Jobs)

FREELANCE ENTERTAINMENT WRITERS – Yardbarker is hiring freelance entertainment writers to clear, fun, and informative articles. You must have written for a mainstream publication to be considered for one of these remote writing jobs. Other required qualifications include familiarity with SEO best practices, ability to meet tight deadlines, and strong news judgement and ability to spot and cover significant topics. FREELANCE SPORTS WRITERS – Yardbarker is hiring freelance sports writers to join their team. These are remote freelance writing jobs for deadline-driven writers who have written for a main stream publication or website and have knowledge of SEO best practices. GHOSTWRITER FOR ACCOMODATIONS & TRAVEL BLOG – Alure Stanthorpe, an accommodations and travel blog, is looking for a ghostwriter to write blog one blog post per month to start. You need to have SEO writing experience and be able to write engaging and informative articles that will drive traffic and encourage engagement on their various social media accounts. FREELANCE CONTRIBUTORS – Doist is hiring freelance writers to produce content for their company publication, including articles, essays, guides, and reviews on work and today’s workplace. These are remote freelance writing jobs for writers with strong research, writing and editing skills. SEO experience would also be a plus for this freelance writing job. Read more/apply

CONTENT WRITER – YellowThread LLC, an ecommerce company, is hiring a content writer. This is a remote writing job that entails writing product copy, such as “10 Best” articles on everything from iPhone covers to swimsuits. You must have 2-3 years of professional content writing experience, and a degree in a writing-related field. Read more/apply

Canadian Writing Jobs (On-Site Writing Jobs in Canada)

PRODUCT COPYWRITER – Groupe Dynamite Inc. is hiring a full-time product copywriter in Montreal, Quebec.  The copywriter will write, edit and enhance product descriptions for dynamite.ca and garage.ca. To be considered for this Canadian copywriting job, you must have a university degree in marketing or a related field, 2-3 years of experience writing for print or online publications, and be bilingual in written and spoken French and English. JUNIOR COPYWRITER – A Plus Creative is hiring a junior copywriter to create online content. This is a part-time, entry-level writing job in Toronto, Ontario that could lead to full-time. This is a full-time writing job in Barrie, Ontario for a writer who can produce quality content with a quick turnaround. Calls for Submissions

ELLERY QUEEN’S MYSTERY MAGAZINE – EQMM welcomes mystery story submissions from new and established writers. They’re open to stories of just about every length, but 2,500 to 8,000 words is the preferred range. Shorter stories are also considered, including minute mysteries of as little as 250 words. Payment ranges from 5 to 8 cents per word, though it can be higher for established writers.

ALFRED HITCHCOCK’S MYSTERY MAGAZINE – new and established authors are welcome to submit. Stories must fall into the mystery genre in some sense or another to be considered. They’re open to nearly every kind of mystery, such as police procedurals, private eye tales, stories of detection of the classic kind, courtroom dramas, espionage, etc. They only ask that the story be about a crime of the threat or fear of one. They pay 5 to 8 cents per word, sometimes higher for established authors.
