Canadian Writing Jobs (Jobs for Writers in Canada ONLY)
AUDIO DESCRIPTION SCRIPT WRITER – National Captioning Canada Inc. in Calgary, AB is currently looking to grow their team of in-house describers to make the visual content accessible to a blind or low-vision audience. Required are strong writing skills, comfort in voiceover narration and a strong speaking voice. Training wage is $17.50 per hour and formal training at the Calgary head office is approximately 4 weeks and increases to $20 per hour after the completion of 20 hours of script writing various types of program content. FREELANCE COPYWRITER – Easy Group Inc. in Toronto, ON is looking for a part-time freelance copywriter to write copy to carry out the creative concept on social media platform. Call for submissions
THE FIDDLEHEAD – The Fiddlehead is open to good writing in English or translations into English from all over the world and in a variety of styles, including experimental genres and are looking for unsolicited works in fiction, including excerpts from novels, creative nonfiction, and poetry.
They particularly welcome submissions from Indigenous writers, writers of colour, writers with disabilities, LGBTQQIA+ writers, and writers from other intersectional and under-represented communities.
The Fiddlehead is currently accepting Poetry, Fiction, and Creative Nonfiction on Submittable!
Their two Submittable submission periods are February 15 – April 30 and September 15 – November 30.
For those who prefer snail mail and handwritten responses, they will still be accepting mailed submissions! Mailed submissions in any category are accepted all year around.
Pay is $60 CAD per published page, plus two complimentary copies of the issue with your work.
